Adjuvants restore colistin sensitivity in mouse models of highly colistin-resistant isolates, limiting bacterial proliferation and dissemination

  30 August 2024

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing concern for global health, particularly in Gram-negative bacteria. The rising incidence of colistin resistance is a significant challenge. This study shows that adjuvants, such as IMD-0354 and benzimidazole compounds, can restore colistin sensitivity in vivo. These compounds show low toxicity, reduce bacterial load, and prevent systemic infection by preventing dissemination.
